Palfinger Marine was awarded a life extension refurbishment work for 9 pieces of FF48.1 lifeboats for Equinor. The scope is an almost complete overhaul of the lifeboats, including surface treatment of the steel hull, engine replacement, Dyno install, LED light installation and more.

The 9 boats are steel free fall lifeboats from 1986. They’re being refurbished and prepared for a life cycle up to and beyond 2040. Each boat requires approximately 20 weeks of work before getting shipped back to the customer. The scope is refurbishing 2 boats each year within 5 years, and the work is planned being done at Seimsfoss, Norway in cooperation with skilled technicians from our factory in Ølve.

This order was the first of many opportunities. Both Equinor and other operators at the Norwegian Continental Shelf are actively planning for life time extensions on most installations.
