The Nor-Shipping trade show, which took place from the 3rd to 6th of June this year, typically attracts a staggering 600 exhibitors and 30,000 visitors. The event sprawls over 21,000 square meters across six halls – and this year it celebrated its 60th anniversary.

Given that the motto was “Future-Proof”, PALFINGER MARINE was particularly proud to showcase models of our new PFM 2100 crane, and the innovative offshore passenger transfer system (OPTS). In combination with our global service network, we are shaping the future of the industry.

THE PFM RANGE IN THE SPOTLIGHT

As a leading manufacturer of innovative and reliable deck equipment and lifesaving appliances, PALFINGER MARINE’s new PFM 2100 is the latest addition to the heavy-duty foldable knuckle boom crane series. It represents a versatile solution developed specifically for the aquaculture industry. With a maximum outreach of over 29 meters and a lifting capacity of 4,000 kilograms at full extension, it is designed as a powerful new addition to a range that already includes our trusted, durable, and complementary PFM 2500, PFM 3500, and PFM 4500 units.

Having reached many major milestones after an intensive development phase, the first PFM 2100 crane was delivered earlier this year. While our newest model is geared towards speed and outreach with high performance and robustness, the larger models in the series deliver even more exceptional lifting power for particularly demanding tasks. The scale model attracted significant interest at our booth, but innovation is a continual process. We are already working on our next PFM model to – in line with the Nor-Shipping motto – future-proof our portfolio.

THE OPTS PROTOTYPE ON DISPLAY

As portrayed in previous articles, PALFINGER MARINE’s 3D-compensated OPTS sets new standards for transferring both staff and cargo from a vessel to an offshore structure in a safe and efficient manner. Developed specifically for difficult weather conditions, the system is the perfect solution for maintenance work, operating semi-submersible installations, and decommissioning projects.

The scale model presented at the Nor-Shipping granted visitors a closer look at a system currently in its prototype phase. Our rigid in-house testing program was launched in March and will be followed by first offshore trials towards the end of the year. Available as both a mobile and integrated deck installation, the OPTS covers a wide range of maritime requirements. You might have heard our product experts Kjetil Roksvåg and Sindre Halvorsen talk about our new system at the Offshore Crane and Lifting Conference in Norway earlier this year. Talk about future-proof!

SERVICE REMAINS PARAMOUNT

PALFINGER MARINE also presented its extensive range of service solutions at the Nor-Shipping. A global network of sales and service locations and over 300 experienced service technicians guarantee comprehensive support across the board to ensure maximum operational availability and safety for customers. Jarle Sørstrønen, Product Line Leader Marine Solutions, was one of our colleagues present at the Nor-Shipping booth and he was thrilled by the turnout: “The number of customers and partners that visited us underlines the importance of placing customers at the center of all we do by adding value with our products and services.” Jarle was one of many PALFINGER MARINE experts manning at the trade show, proving that customer proximity remains a priority across all business segments. Jarle adds:

It’s always great to be at Nor-Shipping to feel the heartbeat of the industry and experience the ‘optimize and grow’ mindset.

PALFINGER MARINE EQUIPS SHIP OF THE YEAR

One of the highlights of the event was the award ceremony for the SHIP OF THE YEAR, an honor which fell to Prysmian’s cutting-edge cable laying vessel Monna Lisa. “The fact that PALFINGER MARINE equipped the Monna Lisa with a comprehensive product package represents the ultimate product recognition,” Jarle beams. The package included a large A-frame, a towing roller, a number of winches, two hangar travelling cranes, two tension elevators, mooring and provision platforms, lifeboats, and fenders. In fact, PALFINGER MARINE equipped three of Prysmian’s cable laying vessels with a complete equipment package, underlining our status as a leading supplier to the most innovative industry players.

We are convinced that our successful presence at the Nor-Shipping will result in further prestigious projects in the future.
